This study reports an unusual case of anaphylaxis induced by tomato. Inhibition studies carried out in-vitro showed the complete cross-reactivity between the relevant tomato allergen and purified peach lipid transfer protein (LTP). Tomato LTP may sometimes cause severe allergic reactions.

We report the case of a 46-year-old woman who treated her hair with a homemade egg-white based mask. After one year of weekly applications, the ingestion of egg triggered rhinitis, choking and systemic urticaria. Though the breakdown of oral tolerance to egg has been reported elsewhere in the literature, to the best of our knowledge, […]
The appropriateness of house dust mite specific immunotherapy in patients allergic to shrimps still remains unclear. We present a clinical case as an immunological model for the strong sensitization to tropomyosin with symptoms of anaphylaxis due to shrimps and coexisting asthma due to house dust mite. The improvement in respiratory symptoms for house dust mite […]
The authors describe an unusual case of LTP allergy. A 35 years old patient presented repeated episodes of angiooedema after food intake and complained 10 years ago of contact urticaria and rhinoconjunctivitis when exposed to cannabis leaves and to marijuana smoke. The suspected responsible foods, such as wheat flour in bread, are known to contain […]
In this paper, the transfer of IgE-mediated food allergy by means of autologous stem cell transplantation in a 24-years old male patient is reported.
Relevant interest has been focused on rapid desensitization for drug hypersensitivity and on its use for reactions to monoclonal antibodies. Natalizumab is a highly effective therapy for multiple sclerosis but its use can be limited by hypersensitivity reactions. Herein we present a case of a 36-year-old male patient with multiple sclerosis who started natalizumab therapy […]
We report a case of a two-year-old boy with atopic dermatitis treated with antibiotics for pharyngitis and acute otitis media and subsequently developed targetoid and ulcerated blister mucocutaneous lesions. Diagnostic workup revealed eczema herpeticum and HSV viremia. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of a patient with atopic dermatitis presenting with erythema […]

A case of anaphylaxis occurring during a general anesthesia is presented. The reaction was severe with bronchospasm and hypotension (grade 2 in the severity of per-operative anaphylactic shock). The responsibility of hydroxyzine, administered for premedication was suspected by intradermal testing with the molecule, which was twice positive at a 10-2 dilution of the commercial solution. […]
A woman, 68 yrs, developed an anaphylactic reaction after tasting a few pieces of gluten-free pasta. She was not celiac but was preparing a meal for her celiac nephew. The culprit pasta contained lupine flour and lupine proteins. Prick test with lupine extract was positive. ELISA and immunoblot analysis showed the presence of specific IgE […]
Skin testing is a reliable and safe way to diagnose IgE-mediated allergies, with rare side-effects. Two cases of systemic allergic reactions during skin testing to food allergens are hereby reported. A 28-year-old male reported allergic reactions, mild to moderate in severity, each time he tasted fish in the frame of his professional duties. During SPT […]
